About the Project

Polysolar completed the supply and electrical installation for a transparent PV conservatory. Our client found a conservatory builder to produce and build the conservatory and were happy to use Polysolar solar glazing within their framing system. Our solar glass was used on the roof of the conservatory and standard glazing was used on the sides of the structure. For our client, the main reason for installing solar glass was to reduce the thermal gain (g-value) under the panels due to the conservatory becoming too hot and unusable in the summer months. Due to the nature of solar glass absorbing solar radiation to create electricity, our glass can achieve a g-value of 0.24 and once double-glazed it can produce a u-value (insolation value) of below 1 which means the conservatory will keep warmer in the winter months. We supplied and electrically connected bespoke sized PS-CT panels in the conservatory roof which has a 20% transparency. In the attached photos you can clearly see the reduction in solar gain when comparing the solar glass beside the standard glazing.
